Frank Bold is a member of EFRAG’s Sustainability Reporting Board, which is responsible for steering the direction of the technical work, and ultimately endorse the submission of draft standards to the EU Commission.
This advisory body gathers representatives from multiple stakeholder groups, namely preparers and users of sustainability data. As of 2024, companies will start to apply the first set of sector-agnostic standards. EFRAG’s work will continue with the development of technical proposals for sector-specific standards, which are of particular importance to clarify what companies need to report on material risks and impact that are prevalent in their specific industry (as these details were not cover in the first set of sector-agnostic standards).
The EU Sustainability Reporting Standards are a major milestone in corporate transparency to ensure more consistent and comparable sustainability disclosures.
Frank Bold coordinates the platform which brings together leading civil society organisations and engages with major business and investor representatives in order to discuss the gaps, challenges and implementation of sustainability disclosure obligations and standards.
The initiative led by Frank Bold provided important research that informed the development of the European framework for corporate transparency on sustainability matters. Drawing from the conclusions of major studies, specific policy recommendations were submitted to EU regulators for the development of the legal framework.
The platform includes dedicated spaces to discuss policy developments with business and financial leaders through a Policy Forum and Business Advisory Panel.
Frank Bold is part of the board of the European Coalition for Corporate Justice, the largest civil society network devoted to corporate accountability, gathering more than 480 NGOs, trade unions and academic institutions throughout Europe. ECCJ advocates for improved access to justice and remedies for victims of corporate abuse; and greater corporate transparency based on meaningful value chain reporting that complements financial information with impacts on people and the planet.
